Woodblock Printing with Multiple Blocks

The printmaking process allows for the production of multiple originals. A woodcut or woodblock print is an image printed from the carved surface of a block of wood.

The following prints all began as a sketch- I used the drawing to determine which block would hold the most information, and which blocks would provide additional colors. From there, the blocks were carved and inked, testing many ink and paper combinations along the way.

Much like a puzzle, the complementary blocks fit together to create the final image. This series of prints draws inspiration from my painting studies to explore endless color combinations.

GIFC is a series of traveling group shows, featuring the work of hundreds of emerging artists. Founded with the goal of making art accessible for everyone, all work is priced at $30 USD.
